With over 15 years practicing orthodontics, Dr. Niaraki oversees all aspects of Smilebar's patient care. He holds a Doctor of Dental Medicine from Tufts and a Master of Science in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics from Boston University Goldman School of Medicine.
Born and raised in Illinois, Dr. Ma earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia University, then completed his orthodontic specialty (MMSc) at Harvard. He has been practicing ever since and speaks Mandarin and basic Japanese.

About Smilebar
What makes Smilebar different from a general dentist offering Invisalign?
Invisalign is the only treatment we provide, and cases are planned by specialist orthodontists rather than a general dentist adding aligners to a broader practice. Smilebar has held VIP Diamond+ status every year since 2018, which requires having treated over 800 Invisalign cases and a minimum of 200 every year.
Who are the orthodontists at Smilebar?
Dr. Nayson Niaraki, DMD, co-founder, trained at Tufts with a Master of Science in orthodontics from Boston University, and practising for over 15 years. Dr. Alex Ma, DDS, is board certified with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Columbia and an orthodontic specialty from Harvard.
What does VIP Diamond+ provider mean?
It is the highest Invisalign provider tier, based on annual case volume, and places a practice in roughly the top 1% nationally. Smilebar has held it for eight consecutive years since 2018.

Do you treat teenagers as well as adults?
Yes, though the practice is built around adults. Most of our patients are working professionals, and a good share are treating relapse after having braces years earlier.
