Instead of addressing the issue, they told me to keep wearing the broken aligners—even when they were cutting into my mouth. I was told my treatment would take one year. After 2.5 years, they abruptly stopped it. Was the issue resolved? Not really. My teeth are more aligned, but the journey was unnecessarily painful—and avoidable with a more competent provider.<br><br>Near the end of my treatment, I begged them for two backup aligners to avoid more suffering while waiting for retainers. They agreed, but added that it was a "favor" and even claimed they could "lose their license if Invisalign found out" how many aligners I had broken. Yet again, they lied. They sent me just one backup, which—predictably—broke. I was left in pain for several more days until I found a much better provider in LA who helped me get a proper retainer.<br><br>To add insult to injury, Smilebar would hang up on me when I called in pain. I wore my aligners more than 20 hours a day for 2.5 years. I was a committed, responsible patient—and they treated me horribly.<br><br>My advice? I know there are positive reviews here, but if you have any other option, go elsewhere. Don’t be surprised if they lie to you, ignore your pain, and leave you worse off. My case was unique and involved working with my general dentist, multiple oral surgeons, and a periodontist. “expensive and disappointing experience. Before treatment I had one tiny gap between 2 molars, after treatment I got 6 big gaps all over my mouth. The 3D model showing progress is completely misleading. It never moves like that. They will then tell you that was only a reference not the realistic moves after you paid and signed up their treatment. They will tell you how perfect your biting will be, but it ends up getting worse. My biting was getting worse, my tenth are not getting tied up instead creating more gaps. One pair of retainer after treatment will cost $900, and it broke in 2 months. They also refuse to give the scan to other office.”

“Okay, my personal experience with Smilebar is not very good. I started to have bite issue after the treatment, and I went to a different dental clinic and told them I have done Invisalign at SmileBar. They said they heard people complaining about their experiences at SmileBar. Also, Dr. Niaraki said my treatment could be finished in 9 months, which was the main reason I chose this place, but it ended up taking almost 2 years. And during my treatment, I asked him to make some adjustments as I was not 100% satisfied with my bite, but he kept saying my teeth looked perfect.<br>Overall, they have made my teeth look better, and the assistants there are also nice. But I also spent a lot of money on this, so I set my expectations high. This whole experience is just disappointing at this point.”

“I was satisfied with the Invisalign process and service received, which straightened my teeth to my satisfaction. Having spent >$5000 on the treatment, I was keen to maintain the benefit and thus paid for the permanent lower jaw retainer bar (at a cost of $595). This initial bar remained intact for just over 3 years (while I continued to wear the night-time retainer). To my surprise, the bar eventually came loose and needed replacement. Therefore, Smilebar replaced the bar for an additional cost to me of $595, which I figured was reasonable given my initial experience. However, this newly replaced bar came off after just over 4 weeks while eating breakfast. Smilebar agreed to replace the bar at no cost, given it came off within such a short time. However, the second replacement bar came off after just over 4 months, this time completely (i.e. including the bonding agent on all 4 teeth) while eating toast (and during which time I continued to use the night-time retainer). When I once again contacted Smilebar and explained my dissatisfaction and frustration with the bar, I was told that I would need to pay yet another $595 for a replacement. I was also informed that the bar itself is only warranted to be replaced free of charge within the first 2 months post-installation.<br><br>I was taken back that Smilebar took no accountability or consideration that perhaps the retainer bar was not being installed correctly, especially considering this latest iteration came loose in its entirety, including the bonding agent. Additionally, the lower bar retainer is meant to be a permanent apparatus, which should last upwards of 10 years+ and not months if installed correctly. Smilebar failed to provide quality service beyond my initial experience and also failed to disclose that the device, following installation, would only be warranted for 2 months.<br>I would seriously consider pursuing other practices that are transparent with their patients and can provide a level of expertise that reflects the cost of service being charged to their patients, which is why I am providing a 2 star review.”

“Really disappointed, do not recommend. While fixing minor cosmetic issues, they created new ones and didn't fix them. Their quote for my Invisalign was cheaper and faster than my dentist's, but in the end it took just as long and now I get to figure out how to fix the new issues. I had to repeatedly follow up to get them to finally bill my dental insurance, which delayed repayment by months. I thought going someplace that only does Invisalign would mean they'd be good at it - but now I think it's probably better to go someplace with a vested interest in your teeth long-term.”

I told him at the end of my treatment that my teeth still felt very crooked, but he said they look "perfect." Nearly a year after I've finished treatment, I have to wear my retainers for at least 12 hours a day/night for my bite to feel normal. When I don't, my teeth noticeably shift and it's extremely annoying and distracting - not at all what I would expect after paying $5000. Dr. Niaraki also severely underestimated the time that it would take to "fix" my teeth, probably just to draw me in (and I have a very mild case). Once I save enough money, I'll go to a legitimate orthodontist and get braces like I should have in the first place. I cannot recommend Smilebar to anyone; please don't let the high google rating persuade you to shell out your hard earned money, as happened to me. Smilebar's only saving grace is Sephra, an incredibly kind, hardworking, and helpful staff member who helped me navigate my insurance.”
